Biography, scientific achievements

Specialist in the field of socio-economic geography and regional economics. Identified the specifics of territorial development as an economic and geographical process; substantiation of new approaches to planning the socio-economic development of districts of regional rank and the formation of territorial production complexes. Developed a methodology for regulating the integrated development of regions and substantiating the parameters of territorial program management.

He applied the methods of program-target planning to the formation of territorial production complexes in Transbaikalia and the European North-East. He analyzed the role of the North in the development of the Russian economy: the consolidation of the market space, the priority in the formation of the domestic Russian market over the external one, the uniqueness of ethnic culture and traditional types of economy, the high importance of environmental functions. Completed a typology of the territorial economic systems of the North of Russia and proposed directions for their modernization.
