Emilia Ivanovna KolomietsDoctor in Biology, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Director of Institute of Microbiology, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Biography, scientific achievementsShe has formed and is actively developing a scientific school on the study of the biogenesis of biologically active compounds with antimicrobial activity and the creation of biological means of protecting plants and animals. Among the most significant results of scientific activity: the creation of a collection of industrially valuable microorganisms, promising for the development of biopesticides, biodisinfectants, probiotics, feed additives; establishing the mechanisms of interaction of antagonist bacteria with pathogens of plants and animals, deciphering the nature of the produced antimicrobial metabolites and their directed synthesis; development of original technologies for the creation of biological products with phytoprotective, disinfectant, growth and immunostimulating activity. Research in the field of biochemistry and genetics, work on selection and genetic engineering design of strains with desired properties and their targeted cultivation ensured the competitiveness of the biotechnological products being created. Author of more than 460 scientific papers, including 4 collective monographs, 25 inventions. He is a member of the dissertation defense councils at the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Institute of Plant Protection of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
